I can honestly say that out of all those medical facilities, PVMC has my highest rating! Let me tell you my short story, I had just had shoulder surgery, and the pain had hit me hard. The pain meds weren’t cutting it and my wife was at her wits end, so she finally decided to take me back to the hospital. I was dreading this the whole way due to the long waits that are expected when visiting most Emergency Rooms. After arriving, we were pleasantly surprised to be greeted and were aided immediately, then taken back to our room. I was treated and released in about an hour. The nurses, the doctors and the administration provided a very high level of customer service with true care. This is why PVMC has my highest rating and believe me that is not easy.” – John Paul Grauer
I was a little hesitant to have my baby delivered at a brand new hospital. All my friends said ‘just because it was new didn’t mean it was better.’ Yet due to the previous winter in Colorado, I wanted to be close to home,” describes Stephanie Adams, a brand new first-time mom. “I have to tell you, I could not have been more surprised with my experience. I spent two days at Platte Valley Medical Center and had I not just given birth, it would have been a vacation!
The facility was warm, welcoming and immaculate. The staff treated me as though I was their only patient and to my knowledge they had delivered eight other babies that day! Every person greeted me with a smile and a desire to make my experience the best it could be. I was fearful of what the food might be like, but it was surprisingly good too. Even the phone operator that took my room service order was not only friendly, but remembered who I was, and would ask how my baby and I were doing! Needless to say, I was very impressed and satisfied with my experience, and would recommend this hospital to anyone!” – Stephanie Adams
Thank you Platte Valley Medical Center for making my nursing dreams come true. I have wanted to be a nurse from the time I was eight years old. It truly is my calling. I love caring for people, educating them, and sending them home with the tools for a wonderful recovery.
Here at PVMC I am able to really care for my patients. I have the time to sit with them, help them deal with their concerns and offer encouragement and compassion along with my routine nursing care.
This was not always the case for me. I came to PVMC almost a year ago from a very large “mega” hospital in New Mexico. We were always very busy and short staffed, and the patient ratio was high. I had no time to give quality care to my patients. I had to be in and out of the room as quickly as possible and on to the next. If I stayed to talk with a patient I got too far behind. I found that I was not even able to concentrate on their issues because I was thinking of what I needed to do next. This was not nursing to me. When we decided to move to the Denver area I began applying to different hospitals. Platte Valley Medical Center was the first hospital I interviewed at and I immediately felt at home. The PVMC way of giving patient care echoed mine. Although I accepted the job right away, I still went to the other four interviews; yet none compared with Platte Valley Medical Center.
I am so happy to be part of the PVMC family. I went from questioning my decision to become a nurse to loving every minute. I know this sounds corny, but I love my job! So thank you PVMC for giving me this great job and being what I consider the premier patient care hospital in Denver! – Paula Barela, RN in the Women’s and Newborn Center
