Platte Valley Medical Center's fully-integrated, high-definition operating rooms not only enhance surgeons' ability to perform telesurgery with a network of voice-controlled, high-definition medical devices for minimally invasive surgeries, they also enhance the delivery of patient care.

"We have one of the most technologically advanced operating rooms in the state, if not the entire country," elates Jim Stobinski, director of Surgical Services at PVMC. "This technology allows our surgeons to perform innovative procedures more efficiently. This improves patient care by decreasing surgical time and time under anesthesia. This efficiency facilitates quicker recoveries and gets our patients back to their home and families."

Comprehensive Surgical Services

We perform a complete range of inpatient, outpatient, and short stay minimally invasive surgical procedures. We provide a full range of general, gynecological, otolaryngology (ENT), orthopedic, podiatry, and urology surgery programs. Our surgical suite is also equipped with an Endoscopy lab where all aspects of GI endoscopies are performed. Our operating rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and trained professionals.

Participating in Your Care is Key to Teamwork:

As a patient, you can play a vital role in making your care safe by becoming an active, involved and informed member of your health care team.

Begin by asking your doctor for information regarding:

• Your care and condition; in terms you can understand.

• "Informed consent" before the start of any procedure. Except in emergencies, Informed Consent information includes a description of your procedure, risks and benefits involved, how long you may be incapacitated, and reasonable medical alternatives.

• Your continuing health requirements after you leave the hospital.

Plan ahead for your return home. Before surgery, be sure to talk to your doctor or nurse about what you may need after your hospital stay. While you are recovering, you may need:

• Medications, crutches or other equipment

• Changes in your home environment

• Caregiver support by family member, friend or paid helper

Follow-up appointments

We will call and check on your progress after surgery. Please don't forget to tell us the convenient time of day to call you. Pain control may be a very important issue for you. Our staff is specially trained in working with patients and their doctors to help reduce pain. If you have any concerns about post-surgical pain, please discuss them with your nurse during the admission process.
