Patient Safety & Quality is Our Top Priority

At Platte Valley Medical Center your safety and the quality of your care are our top priority. One way we ensure quality care is through rigorous evaluations and accreditation through The Joint Commission (TJC). Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission is dedicated to continuously improving the safety and quality of the nation's health care through voluntary accreditation. The Joint Commission is an independent, not-for-profit organization, governed by a board that includes physicians, nurses, and consumers. The Joint Commission sets the standards by which health care quality and safety of care are measured in America and around the world.

Platte Valley Medical Center is a Joint Commission Accredited Hospital as a result of demonstrated compliance with The Joint Commission's nationally recognized health care standards.

John Hicks, president and CEO, calls the accreditation, "testimony of our commitment to provide quality care on an ongoing basis."

TJC has initiated several consumer campaigns to enhance patient education, care and safety. To learn more about TJC, visit www.jointcommission.org.

Platte Valley Medical Center proudly participates in statewide and nationwide programs that call for action such as the Institute for Healthcare Improvement's 5 M Lives campaign, the national "Get with the Guidelines" for Heart Failure treatment and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) initiatives for Heart Failure, Pneumonia, Acute Myocardial Infarction and Surgical Care Infection Prevention. Results of these initiatives are published on the CMS website, Hospital Compare.

This year PVMC was given an award by the Colorado Patient Safety Coalition for our outstanding work in creating a culture of safety house wide (click here to learn more).

Providing the highest quality of care through continuous performance improvement is not only a priority but also an integral part of our daily work. We are therefore very interested in knowing how we can improve the care to those we serve.

If you have a safety or quality concern, please let us know. Please contact our Patient Representative at 303-498-1560.

If you believe you have pertinent and valid information about the quality and/or safety of care provided or the environment in which it is delivered, and the hospital representatives did not address your concerns, you may contact The Joint Commission or the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.
